I am still quite far behind on my little garden journal here that I had to split my latest entry into a couple of posts, one in the garden and one outside.

When I was out out detecting nearby I noticed there’s a gazillion ladybirds in the grass. There’s still clover flowering in the grass as well, so I gotta watch where I’m kneeling so I don’t aggravate the bees or squash the ladybirds.

I noticed several Foxglove plants sprinkled around amongst the brambles. Once I started looking, I realised there were quite a few about! I guess the ponies and donkeys know better than to eat them, or they’re taking advantage of the briars on the blackberry bushes to survive.

You’ll be surprised to see that there’s spots in the New Forest with very little actual forest. So many ecosystems in such a small space.

I was always taught that tree ferns were extinct but I’ve seen this stuff topping 4 feet in places. Pretty close to a fern tree IMHO.

If you look closer, you’ll find lichen in amongst the lichen.
Bonus: I caught this video of a traffic jam in the New Forest…
