IT Comes in threes

OR So the lady at the cafe said:

First was spilling my drink on the counter before I paid for it.

Second was forgetting my sandwich in the microwave.

Third is apparently my train being cancelled at Basingstoke. A full hour away from London.

Stay tuned.

The Rule of Threes and Travel Troubles

There’s an old saying: bad things come in threes. I didn’t give it much thought this morning, but a series of unfortunate events has me pondering its validity. It all started innocently enough at my local cafe. First, I managed to spill my drink before even paying for it—a minor mishap, easily cleaned up. Then, I promptly forgot my sandwich in the microwave, a slightly more frustrating oversight.

But the third event, the one that truly cemented the “rule of threes” in my mind, was the cancellation of my train at Basingstoke. Now, being an hour away from London with no immediate way to get back is more than just a minor inconvenience. It’s a significant disruption to my day.

It makes you wonder, doesn’t it? Is there some cosmic force orchestrating these little clusters of misfortune? Or is it simply a matter of noticing patterns after they’ve occurred? Whatever the explanation, I’m definitely hoping this particular series has run its course.

Stay tuned for updates (hopefully from London).
