About two days ago I added some sugar and brown sugar to the primary fermentation, giving TNB the same ultimatium I gave the earlier batch, if I didn’t see marked signs of fermenation, it was into the bottles with the lot you!
I went out looking for bottles again today, just couldn’t bring myself to buy plastic and not for 15 dollars for 8 bottles.
I flirted with the idea of canning jars again, found 12 pint sized bottles for 9 dollars at tractor supply. JJ said they were cheaper at Meijers– if they still had them but we didn’t make it to Meijers, we went for another short walk out at St. Joe’s and the brisk wind had us wishing we’d had lunch before going out. We were fairly chilled!
So I improvised.
I used the 4 empty bottles I had from cider purchases and one quart sized jar purchased for gift giving. That left me with about a pint which I put into a quart jar that had recently held apple juice and just as a lark, I put in a short stick of cinnamon.
I was glad to clear up all that mess and now I need only wait. In a week I can test/taste the october brew and then November one should be drinkable by thanksgiving. TECHNICALLY its drinkable now, and still tasted sweet and apply. Some small amount of fermenation will continue in the bottles and I may rack them a second time if bottles turn up. (doyle!)
ps: SG testing showed this batch at 1.7%. Let’s see what some time in a bottle does for it.
